I started with Pratt as a Truck Driver and did local and regional deliveries for a two years. I then transferred to the Yard Truck. It was my job to get all needed trailers to and from the docks in a timely manner, keep all trailers inspections up to date, help outside carriers find the correct docks to go to and make some deliveries. I moved into my current position November of 2018. My duties now are to purchase and keep inventory of all maintenance and machine parts by using current vendors. Take into account the cost and availability of all parts when choosing which vendor to purchase from. Find parts and get them purchased for immediate use when a machine is down and part is not in our inventory. Add new parts to our inventory as they become necessary or requested. Assist the maintenance guys locate parts as needed. Make new locators to locate the parts to for our new plant. Relocate and organize all parts from old plant and new parts for all new machines. Make purchase orders as needed for all contractors. Help go through all invoices for accuracy and add packing slips to them for the accounting department. Follow up on all open orders. Before our move I was also responsible for ordering and keeping on hand all janitorial supplies.
I transported all types of goods across the country as requested by my company to be delivered on time and undamaged. It was up to me to pick my route to make the best time in the most economical manner. My truck and trailers cleanliness, maintenance and performance was my responsibility to keep up. When needed, I called the customer to set up appointments to load or unload.
