COMMUNICATION

As an educator, each year updating your curriculum is necessary. When updating lessons, PowerPoints, and software programs, this information is passed on to the district. Passing this information not only helps my students, but it also benefits all students.

LEADERSHIP

  • As an educator helping students to achieve success is a must. By implementing life situations to the curriculum, it shows students the importance of education. Students were introduced to Case Studies so that they would have to use their critical thinking/problem-solving skills. It is my job to get students’ career and college ready.
  • Served on the Faculty/Administrative Committee. This committee bridges the communication gap between teachers and administrators. This committee would meet once a month to review the complaints and concerns of the staff. We would help to come up with the best problem-solving solution between educators and school leadership.
  • Served as a mentor in the “Girls to Peals” Program. This program met after school for six weeks. Helping young girls to build their self-esteem and understand the importance of education. Teaching young girls, the importance of finance along with linking education, was an eye-opener to these girls.
  • As the Secretary for the International Minority Coalition, keeping the lines of communication open is very important. When asked to join this organization, the President asked for help. I took the initiative to organize this organization and appoint others to help this organization grow.
  • Site Coordinator for “YouCanVote” Organization. Workers under my leadership worked the polls during the 2020 election. My precincts were staffed with dependable people. The workers were on time, always working with no problems. As a leader, if other site coordinators were having difficulties, stepping in and helping was not a problem.
  • Served as a Team Leader for MYEP (Mayor’s Youth & Employment Program). "The Mayor's Youth Employment Program (MYEP)) provides equitable Career Development Opportunities for youth ages 16-18 years. Youth are provided Job & Career Readiness Training and an opportunity to explore the world of work through paid summer internships that are traditional and in-person, or virtual work-based learning opportunities. Youth typically work 6-weeks during the summer.” As a team leader for the interns for “Bank of America,” I had the opportunity to assist with making sure they knew the importance of being on time, filling out timecards, work ethic, and being professional in the working environment.
