  • Learning and teaching my endangered heritage language Uchinaaguchi to other Okinawans in the diaspora.
  • About three to four people attend each week.
  • Lessons are 90 minutes, once a week over Zoom.

  • Taught Conversation, Writing, and Presentation Skills classes to 1st-3rd year English majors.
  • Facilitated students' development of cross-cultural skills by having them participate in a language exchange project called The International Virtual Exchange.
  • Self-designed a course called “Communicative English” in which students discussed various global issues such as the environment, news, culture, and education. The textbook I selected was adopted by three other teachers.
  • Improved students' vocabulary repertoire and reading fluency through an extensive reading program using M-Reader.
  • Quickly adapted to teaching remotely through Zoom.
  • Maintained class pages on Moodle and Microsoft Teams where all course information was available and all assignments were to be submitted.
  • Was involved in the selection process of a textbook series called “Keynote,” which promotes critical thinking, academic vocabulary acquisition, and presentation skills.
