Travel Contract CNA duties for this 390 bed Level III Trauma hospital included patient care for critical care unit, progressive care unit, medical rehab as well as Emergency Room patients. I was responsible for the usual activities of daily living combined with the regularly added mental health patient sitter duties. I was responsible for pre-op as well as post-op patients both before and after surgery vital signs, CHG baths, ambulation of patients, etc. I was a mental health patient sitter quite often in various units of the hospital as well as in the ER. I had patients in soft restraints and hard restraints some nights and others were independent in the room while I sat in the doorway and charted their behavior.
Travel Contract CNA duties for this 704 bed Level I Trauma hospital included all ADL's during a 3 month contract.
Patients assigned to me were isolation or telemetry or pre-post op.
Day shift duties included taking vital signs, feeding, bathing, dressing, taking specimens for lab collection, etc. Some patients assigned to me as a patient sitter were mental health patients which had medical/surgical issues as well. I was responsible for their safety by watching and documenting their movements and attending to their needs as well. Quite often I had patients in soft or hard restraints which required me to attend to their personal hygiene while in restraints.
/ Travel Contract CNA duties for this 473 bed Level I Trauma hospital included both isolation and non-isolation Medical/Surgical Units, Emergency Room, Telemetry, ICU, CVICU, Neuro/Spine, Rehab, Mother/Baby as well as Patient Sitter duties. I was responsible for patient care duties such as taking and recording vital signs, hydration, patient hygiene, delivering specimen to the lab, patient transport within the hospital, suicide watch monitoring, etc. I had patients in restraints of all kinds in various units of the hospital as part of patient safety for pulling at lines, tubes as well as violent patients waiting on placement to mental health facilities.
Travel LTC/SNF contract CNA duties included all ADL's of resident care during night shift of 6p-6a. I also provided relief to the attached Memory Care Unit of approximately 30 residents with various forms of dementia as well as patients on the Rehab Unit. Some of my duties were patient hygiene, feeding, bathing, dressing, ambulating and changing incontinent patients. These duties were charted and reported to the oncoming day shift personnel.
Travel Contract CNA duties included all ADL's for approximately 38 residents of this Sanford Health senior living/skilled nursing facility. Day shift requirements included feeding, bathing, dressing, toileting, hygiene, assisting with activities, monitoring patients for a change in condition and reporting to the nurse on duty. Some night shifts were assigned which consisted of putting residents to bed as well as changing and turning incontinent resident every two hours. Charting was done via Point Click Care on every resident nightly.
Travel/Crisis Contract CNA duties included all units of a 318 bed short-term acute care hospital I worked the ER as well in this Level 4 Trauma Center Hospital. Night shift duties included monitoring patient vital signs, changes in patients physical, emotional and symptomatic condition and reporting to the appropriate nurse assigned to the patient. I provided hygiene assistance to the incontinent patients, changing and turning them every two hours as needed, one-to-one sitter duties as assigned for medical or suicidal reasons and feeding/hydration of patients as necessary. I often had patients on restraints for patient safety/violence reasons. All patients were rounded on and charted regularly.
Travel/Crisis Contract CNA duties included both non-CoVid and CoVid positive Units of Rehab, Medical/Surgical, Emergency Room, Telemetry, ICU, Orthopedics as well as Patient Sitter duties. I was responsible for patient care as well as delivering specimens to the lab, patient transport within the hospital, suicide watch monitoring, etc. I was mainly on the rehab unit of this hospital which specializes in Orthopedic Care and Stroke Care. This particular hospital specializes in joint, back and neck pain as well as being a Primary Stroke Center certified by the Joint Commission and a Magnet designation for this 344 bed hospital.
Crisis Contract Travel CNA duties included CoVid 19 relief to the residents of Guam Memorial Hospital Authority. These duties consisted of vital sign monitoring telemetry placement and monitoring, feeding, bathing, ambulating, charting ADL's, etc. of both CoVid Units as well as non-CoVid Medical/Surgical Units. This was a government sponsored and United Airlines sponsored contract with the specific intent to rid the island of CoVid. It was overflowing with CoVid patients upon arrival and had fewer than 5 CoVid positive residents when my crew of 50 nurses and CNA's completed their 5 month long assignment.
Travel LTC/SNF contract CNA duties included all ADL;s of residents during night shift of 6p-6a. I also provided relief to a newly sanctioned CoVid19 Unit within the facility. I fed residents in the dining hall and then toileted them before putting them into their bed for the night. Incontinent residents were changed and turned every two hours as needed. I was responsible for getting the dialysis patients up, dressed and fed before sending them off on the facility bus for dialysis. There were several bariatric patients at the facility which required special lifts and transportation to events which I helped provide.
Travel/Crisis Short-Term Contract CNA hired to work the CoVid 19 Unit in order to provide much needed relief in a crisis situation. Specialized tasks were implemented in order to keep the remaining residents safe. All regular ADL's were implemented with extra precautions to keep residents isolated from one another during a period of intense crisis. I was one of the crew hired to help get the situation under control. As a CNA, I reported to the charge nurse on duty any adverse findings and charted them accordingly.
I worked per diem shifts alternating with Cascade Valley Hospital and Skagit Regional Health Hospital System and Clinics. I was their in-house traveler in a unique position to float between both hospitals and affiliated clinics. The hospitals had different Nurse and Nurse Aide unions therefore, I was the only one allowed to float as I was not a member of their unions. This afforded me options to different patient care situations however, I was mainly assigned to the Critical Care Unit at Cascade Valley Hospital. Some of my duties included hourly rounding on very sick patients, some of which were on ventilators, had surgeries or just all around total care of the critical care patient under the direct supervision of a registered nurse.

My regular CNA duties included monitoring vital signs, all ADL's of patient care, ambulation after surgery, incontinence care, collection of specimens, telemetry, mental health tech duties in the Emergency Room Hold, patient sitting when needed for suicide watch patients and CoVid 19 screener duties for Cascade Valley Hospital, Skagit Regional Hospital and Clinics.

I worked to provide residents with help during all the activities of their daily living for both day and night shifts. I was mainly night shift where I was responsible for 35 patients. I helped with changing and turning incontinent residents, vital sign monitoring, putting residents to bed and getting the required amount of residents up in the morning for breakfast. I reported to the shift nurse any adverse or unusual findings with the residents.

Day shift duties included getting patients up and dressed before feeding and caring for them throughout the day. This particular hospital is a county hospital with attached care center.

Outpatient Travel Contract CNA working mainly on end of week and weekends to fill an employee shortage. Responsible for helping terminally ill patients with comfort care such as bathing, dressing, feeding, incontinence care, providing care-giving supplies for the home, etc. I reported findings of hospice patients to the home office and the patient's assigned hospice RN. I also provided post mortem care to those patients who expired while under hospice care.

Strike Contract CNA in a 365 bed nursing home owned by the county in Lebanon, Pennsylvania. I was responsible for resident care during a peaceful strike by the facility workers. It was a short-term, temporary assignment with many residents per caregiver.
My first real travel assignment. I learned how to combine living and working while under a travel contract. I was responsible for the daily care of various members of the Blackfeet tribe residents of this LTC/SNF on their reservation just outside Glacier National Park. I worked both day and night shifts taking care of several important tribal members each day. I accompanied several residents to the local casino once a week as well as the local high school footfall games as part of my assignment. While there, I would take them to the bathroom, push their wheelchairs, etc.

I also comforted patients which were actively dying until they had passed and then I conducted post mortem care before the funeral director collected the patient.
