Summary
Through my 12 years of dental assisting, I was able to provide compassionate and dedicated healthcare for undeserved communities that I can relate to. I have gained a strong foundation in public health, patient care, and community outreach with many years working for community health centers in Florida. I have been able to work collaboratively in diverse teams to address health disparities and improve access to quality care in underserved communities specifically for women and children and veterans every year. Through private dental assisting, I was able to learn skilled treatment planning in preventive dental care, and case management helping those who are unable to financially pay for dental work. I am very eager to contribute to the mission of the National Health Service Corps scholarship program by promoting wellness, equity, and empowerment through direct service and community engagement as a dental provider post my 4 year education.
