I received an Associate of Arts Degree in Teaching from Trinity Valley Community College (TVCC) in 1987 and immediately after graduation from TVCC I enrolled at the University of Austin at Tyler and obtained a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Education with a specialization in Early Childhood Development. I am certified in Reading for grades 1st through the 8th grade in the state of Texas. In my tenure at Mabank ISD from 1987 as a Texas certified teacher from the grades of 1st through 8th 12 in general classroom studies or English language arts. I fulfilled the requirements for the TExES teacher certification examinations, for the state of Texas and remain in good standing. From 1989 to 2013, I taught first and second grade at Kemp Primary School before substituting at Mabank ISD, mainly in high school. The joy of seeing young students grasp concepts was immensely rewarding. I believe the most important aspect of teaching is building self-esteem and empowering students, ensuring they feel valued and confident.
