My work in Russia, Poland, the Baltic Republics and the Czech Republic encompassed hospitality and mixed-use feasibility studies, site analysis & selection, facilities programming, master planning & concept design, interior design and TSA/consultant/contractor coordination. I worked with western hotel companies involved in projects in Eastern Europe, and with local owners developing western-standard projects. Responsibilities entailed frequent trips and extended stays in Western and Eastern Europe to coordinate with clients and local architects.

Launched Gensler’s Hospitality Practice in Washington, DC for the Eastern US and Europe. Coordinated hospitality business development, and directed projects and project teams consisting of developers, contractors, hotel operators, legal counsel, and consultants.

Supervised station and facility design and renovation, led in-house design, and reviewed design and construction documents by outside architectural firms. Provided design guidance in adjacent and joint development, urban design studies, and long-range planning, and coordinated with consultants and State and local jurisdictions. Was involved in real estate development and community participation related to the system's expansion, supervised the graphics and signage staff, and managed Metro's Arts-in-Transit Program.

Developed project criteria and facilities programs, master plans and concept designs. Coordinated with owners, operators and consultants. Monitored consultants' design process. Led value-engineering and due diligence studies.

Directed the department charged with the programming and conceptual design of all Marriott hotels, and the master planning of mixed-use projects. Provided design guidance in developing new hotels and resorts, and prototypes for various Marriott hotel tiers and Senior Living Services. Reviewed construction documents by outside architects, and coordinated with consultants, owners and regulatory agencies. Led feasibility studies, site selection and acquisition surveys, due diligence and site adaptation analyses, as well as renovation and adaptive reuse studies.
