• Fluorescent Microscope and Embryonic Zebrafish Development Fish, Azooka Labs and Bversity, IISC, 02/18/23, 02/19/23, In the immersive workshop on zebrafish developmental stages and fluorescent microscopy observation, I delved into the captivating realm of embryonic development dynamics. Through hands-on exploration, I honed my ability to discern subtle morphological changes, unveiling the intricacies of early life stages with precision. The utilization of advanced imaging techniques not only enriched my understanding of specimen visualization but also empowered me to unravel the genetic intricacies orchestrating growth and differentiation. This experiential journey not only deepened my appreciation for developmental biology but also equipped me with invaluable skills in experimental design and data interpretation, fostering my growth as a budding researcher in the field.
• Genomics and Proteomics, Edufabrika, IISC, 01/27/24, 01/28/24, During the genomics and proteomics workshop, I acquired a thorough understanding of key concepts and techniques. Hands-on sessions familiarized me with tools like CRISPR-Cas9 for precise gene editing and RNA interference for gene silencing. Software demonstrations showcased the utility of programs like BLAST and NCBI for sequence analysis and database searches. Engaging discussions on emerging technologies such as CRISPR-Cas12a expanded my knowledge and sparked innovative ideas. Overall, the workshop equipped me with practical skills and insights essential for genomic and proteomic research.
• Separation Techniques and Chromatography, Chromagen, Kolkata Biotech Park, 06/18/24, 06/20/24, On the first day we learnt about nature and properties of compounds that play a significant role in the formulation of natural products and their exquisite significance in drug discovery. We were also taught about the principles of Ayurveda, how Ayurveda & TCM are rich sources of information about bioactive natural products. We were also briefed about the different extraction techniques of medicinal plants. We extracted curcumin extract using soxlet from black pepper (Piper logum). On the second day we learnt about the various chromatographic techniques, their uses in different field of separation of mixtures and the principles/important theory behind it. We also did qualitative and quantitative analysis of curcumin in a turmeric extract using HPTLC. We got to perform a full hands-on process from preparing the sample, injecting it into apparatus to quantification of the outcome on the software made for it. On the third day we understood the different parts of HPLC, its sequence of work, how to inject and test the sample to interpretation of the data on the detector.
