I've always known that I wanted to be an artist It began with finger painting and crayons, now I'm currently working with oil and charcoal Painting and drawing are the most effective ways of expressing how I'm feeling and most often how I love to begin important conversations I made my final foundation drawing project for freshman year about the stress of going away to college at the age of 17 I wanted to talk about the rare occurrence of not being an official adult when applying and moving away into the beginning stages of adulthood When applying to college and the AP Studio art board, I submitted my portfolio with the theme of mental health and how one views their own mental health in stages: denial, sadness, and acceptance I'm looking to be an art teacher later in life hoping to inspire young minds As someone who has experienced teachers that kill passion and creativity by stressing about technique and precision, I want to be the fuel to the fire of the artistic wave Drawing is not a talent, but a dedication "Whatever you do, the secret is to believe in it and satisfy yourself Don't do it for anyone else"- Keith Haring
