Work History

Registered Nurse, Operating Room

Bronson Methodist Hospital
05.2018 - Current
  • I am currently working in the Operating Room on the Cardiac Specialty Team. Every day I use my critical thinking and nursing judgment to help assist in open heart surgery. I first and second scrub with my surgeons to help aid in surgery, as well as circulate rooms to ensure patient safety.
  • I am currently the Cardiac Team Lead, training all new staff in the three positions on the team. I am sought out as a resource for the team, the department, and our leaders. As the Team lead I have worked closely with our surgeons to ensure proper communication and create a smooth workflow for our team and our patients,
  • I created the standard work for our bedside Emergency ECMO procedure, Balloon Pump Insertion, and Impella device. I worked closely with our educators and Surgeons to ensure every detail was covered while creating a new Emergency Trauma Cart. During the process I held numerous inservices and educated all OR staff of the procedures and what to expect. I worked with the reps for these devices, coordinating training for the Cardiac Team and ensuring we had all of the proper equipment and supplies readily available.
  • While the department was without a Cardiovascular Coordinator, I stepped forward to help fulfill the position in anyway I was capable. I helped with backorders, finding new instrumentation, supplies, and new solutions to keep surgeons happy and workflow moving. I managed team conflicts and addressed disciplinary conversations. once a new coordinator was established, I helped orient them to the service line to ensure a smooth transition.
  • I am in charge of creating the Cardiac Schedule. I work with the team to maintain worklife balance, as well as working with the scheduler to ensure department needs are met.
  • I am cross trained to scrub and circulate open and endovascular surgery, as well as Thoracic.
  • I am the Co-Chair for the Professional Practice Committee.
  • My current facility is a Tier One Trauma Center, and my capability of being versatile allows me to circulate and scrub other specialties such as general, ortho, neuro, and any traumas.
