I've commuted down the hill from Apple Valley to Colton to work at Walmart ACC6561 for a year and a half. This is Walmart's first automated consolidation center. It was a great experience with excellent managers and co-workers. I loaded trailers with boxes and built walls to ship to the stores. I made connections with my associates and helped others with their work. I complied with the safety standards in the building, such as proper lifting technique, use of step stool, cleaning up spills, and removing any boxes in the path of forklift operators. I'm used to standing all day for 10-hour shifts, constantly moving packages. I got certified on the forklift to get my license after completing 40 hours of training with an instructor. Walmart has a stringent late policy, so I took pride in showing up to work on time, even if I was an hour early.
I'm in my last semester at Victor Valley College, earning my Associate's Degree for Transfer in Business Administration. Afterward, I will attend Cal State San Bernardino to pursue my Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration - Finance. I played four years of varsity basketball in High school. I was the only freshman on the high school varsity team, and in my senior year, I was the captain. I played one year of collegiate basketball in 2019-2020 at Dakota State University before the pandemic shifted me back home. The basketball program had me help out with community service, selling tickets, and working football games for the school team. I enjoy being around other people and building connections with those around me. I love to cook, listen to music, play basketball, work out, go on trips, and explore new places.
