Owns 2 USPTO patent, with 7 additional patents pending with the USPTO. Current patent applications relate to interconnection products for VFD (Variable Frequency Drives), in both land drilling applications and more general industrial applications involving VFD and motor Power Drive Systems. The patent pending designs successfully deal with the voltage spikes and electrical noise issues associated with VFD applications. The current patent applications cover complete VFD interconnection systems and all associated electrical connections, fiber optic and hybrid (fiber/electrical) designs.
Designed and project managed single pin and multi pin power interconnection systems.
Designed and developed single pin and multi-pin power connectors up to 900 AMP @ 2500V AC for VFD applications.
Designed hybrid electrical and fiber optic connector systems including for a major Oil Field Services provider, using proprietary patent pending technology.
Developed single pole rubber and metal connector line for Stran Technologies – ~$2 million.
Developed a full interconnection system for Corning using 4, 12 and 24 fiber optic interface for demanding environments – revenue value of ~$4 million.
Developed a complete VFD interconnection system for a 25-land rig package for Cameron consisting of a complete VFD interconnection system including multi-pin and single pin connectors, junction boxes, terminals and cable assemblies– revenue value of ~$20 million.
Designed and applied for patent protection (patent pending) a globally certifiable hybrid interconnection system for Weatherford that can be used in either North American Class 1, Division 1, or Europe and the rest of the world (ATEX, IECEx) hazardous locations.
Consultant to multiple connector manufacturers and OEM’s on electrical and fiber optic interconnection systems.
Founder, Owner
Electrical Equipment Corporation (EEC)
Chicago, Illinois
01.2002 - 01.2015
Founded EEC with the objective of competing with incumbent manufactures of electrical and fiber optic interconnection systems. Added two partners to focus on operations and engineering.
Focused responsibility for market identification, sales and all aspects of product development.
Developed Electrical and Fiber Interconnection products and systems necessary to effectively compete with Amphenol and other connector competitors in the Oil, Gas and Petrochemical markets.
Differentiated products as necessary after interacting with customers and upgraded single connector technology significantly. This product differentiation combined with a "specialist” focused distributor enabled EEC to dominate the electrical connector single contact (power) side of the US land drilling market from 2007 to 2014.
Interfaced directly and through distribution to design custom products for specific applications with original equipment manufacturers.
Grew sales to US $20 million through major and specialist distribution channels before acquisition by Amphenol in 2014.
International Sales and Marketing Manager / Product Development
Amphenol International
01.1995 - 01.2002
Relocated to Chicago in 1995 as the International Business Development Manager.
Oversaw the design and engineering for new product development which included the Amphenol Industrial Operations product line, focusing on hazardous locations and demanding environments.
Conceived and developed the Amphenol Starline EX and Amphe Ex – sales of ~$6 million.
Incorporated fiber optic termini in EX (ATEX) connector product lines.
Participated in the acquisition of the Amphenol Radsok Hyperbolic grid contact system.
Developed products for other markets, including electric vehicle and air brake systems for transportation systems.
