  • I was responsible of three children. I had to make sure they were feed changed and happy. I did have a schedule that we followed and had to make sure to try my hardest to keep to the schedule so that the children were happy. I had a set of twin babies that I had to give extra TLC and treat as my own. The three year old boy was full of energy so we had to make sure and find parks or places to go to in order for him to get his energy out. I read to him and he enjoyed magnet stories on my fridge. We colored did art projects along with music and fun games to learn his alphabet and counting. I set up my home so that that he had different centers like a day care so that he would get all his needs met. We had an art center, science center, book nook, dramatic play, water play, small manipulative area, and music section. I was also in charge of clean up and set up. Lastly I had to plan out the week and what he would eat drink and learn so that I can insure the parents that the kids were in good hands. I also had to use redirecting as a form of discipline by removing the child from the area or person that he was struggling with and finding another center or toy for him to work with. Working from home gave me the opportunity to not only have my children with the other children but to be able to enrich their minds and to give them a day care setting that they also needed.

  • I worked in a day care classroom starting with toddlers and moved my way up to the pre K classroom. I had to build weekly lesson plans and follow through with them. I was responsible for sending out daily emails to the parents so that they are aware of what we did in class and how their child's day was. I had a schedule that I followed with allowed the children center time, outdoor play and specialist such as music, dance and sports. Along with filling their brains with knowledge we also had to make sure to give each and every one of the children TLC and every day needs. We had to make sure that the children eat their snacks and lunches and this was documented on how much they had each day so that parents were aware. I was also in charge of cleaning up after lunch and helping the children settle down for nap time. If we ever had issues with children behavior we would use the redirection methods of discipline and if that did not work we would remove the child from the classroom and take him or her to the office for a phone call home. My responsibilities also included making sure that all children were given their medications if needed and that I was aware of all allergies for each child. It was my responsibility to make sure each child's needs were met as if that child was my own.

  • I worked at this day care starting as a volunteer at the age of 15 and then was hired on as a classroom helper at the age of 16. I have stayed with them until I had my own children. Even after my children were born I found myself teaching in a classroom at the JCC during my husband's deployments when we would move back home. My age group that I worked with varied starting with toddlers and moved my way up to the pre-K classroom. I had to build weekly lesson plans and follow through with them.
