Have been commercial Fishing in Alaska in the summers my entire life. My brother and I have several fishing boats and the season runs from the end of may to mid july. No stranger to working long days in bad weather. I built one of the boats myself, lots of Troubleshooting and and repairs is required to keep the boats in good working order.
Really loved working at BIW and Learned a ton about shipbuilding. I did roughly 8 years on the main structural assembly crew for the zumwalt class destroyers, mostly pulse and flux core mig welding, I then moved on to tig pipe welding on the Arleigh Burke class destroyers. I also was on the maintenance crew for around a year when welding was slow. Always got along with everyone, zero injurys, It was just a bit too long of a commute for me.
One winter I went on the road doing shutdown work at various industrial plants, Mostly energy generators and some food processing plants like kraft foods. Lots of confined spaces and safety procedures.
