As an End of Life Doula, I am trained to provide emotional, spiritual, and practical support to individuals and their families during the end of life process. My role includes facilitating discussions about end of life wishes, providing comfort, and helping with planning for the dying process. I offer companionship and a listening ear to the dying person and their loved ones, helping them navigate their feelings and fears. I assist with advance directives, living wills and discussing preferences for end of life care. I provide information about the dying process, what to expect and available options for care and support. In support of the patient's final wishes, as an end of life Doula, I work with alongside healthcare workers, hospice staff and the family to ensure decisions are honored. And most importantly, I provide the individual and the family with a calming presence during the final moments of life.
