Soham Patel

• I wanted to deepen my knowledge of architecture and ensure it was the right career path for me. To achieve this, I began reaching out to local firms and had the opportunity to shadow DIG. During my time there, I attended software classes to learn Revit, SketchUp, and AutoCAD. I also gained insights into the various stages of building development by interacting with marketing and construction professionals.

I transitioned from being a Volunteer Teen Staff member after the need for online staff was no longer needed. Wanting to continue contributing to the AAHP, I was offered a role in facilities work. My responsibilities include brainstorming and implementing new ideas to help the studio operate more efficiently.

I joined the Franklin Township Youth Council as a provisional member. During my initial period, I dedicated over 35 hours to various volunteer services demonstrating my commitment for community involvement. My efforts did not go unnoticed, and I was elected by my peers as the Committee Head of Education.

In the fall, I decided to run for class council and was thrilled to be elected as a class representative. Building on this experience, I ran for Treasurer of the school council this March, competing against seven others. I was overjoyed to learn that the entire school elected me as the new Treasurer.

Every Saturday, I dedicate four hours to helping the Franklin Food Bank load food into the store. I am deeply committed to supporting the food bank's mission and am passionate about contributing to their efforts whenever possible. The sense of community and the impact of this work inspire me to stay involved and continue making a difference.

I mentor students in the DVT program at the Academy of Art at Highland Park (AAHP) via Zoom. I provide guidance and support to students while they work on their own personal projects every Friday. In affiliation with the mentoring I write personalized notes for each student for Chief Instructor Ana Soto-Canino to review.
