Mentored 3 undergraduate and 1 graduate student.Supervised 1 undergraduate thesis.
Acquired total $2440 for conference & travel grants.
Leda project identifying periplasmic c-type cytochromes involved in extracellular electron transfer in anaerobic electroactive bacterium Geobacter sulfurreducens.
Ledproject discovering a new regulatory system controlling expression of inner membrane cytochrome in G. sulfurreducens and investigating redox sensing capability of a sensor histidine kinase.
Engineered on-genome high-level geneexpression system, which enabled easy characterization of genes in Geobacter. This system facilitated research published in Nature Microbiology (Wang et al., 2022) which I co-authored.
Created a comprehensive panel of > 70 genetically engineeredstrains to characterize genes for two large projects.
Designed and conducted promoter-reporter gene fusion experiments.
Undergraduate Researcher
University Of Delaware | Hanson Lab | Biddle Lab

Mentored1 high school student.
Designed plasmids and primers for Gibson assembly cloning in anaerobic sulfur-oxidizing bacterium Chlorobaculum tepidum.
Isolated and cultivated microbes from Arctic tundra soil, followed by phylogenetic analysis.
Examined effect of temperature on growth rate of bacteria, isolated from horseshoe crab eggs, which produce antimicrobial compounds.
Completed field- and lab-oriented courses in research, including observation, hypothesis generation, data collection, and presentation, as well as data visualization and statistical analysis using R.
