Hello, my name is Sophia Harrison. I am 24 years old. I was adopted at the age of 12 by a godly American family from Maine from Ukraine. I have lived with them ever since, except for the year I attended The School of Discipleship, Miracle Mountain Ranch.
My family has hosted some kiddos from other orphanages in Ukraine, and many of them have special needs. Since we could not adopt them all, my family started a non-profit organization for these aged-out orphans and younger orphans in the place where I was born. I volunteered, giving my all, sharing the Gospel, teaching life skills, playing fun games, and just being there as their big sister, loving them. I loved working alongside them, seeing their growth, their big smiles, how much they wanted to learn, hear, touch, and see everything.
I moved back to Maine two years ago and started working at a coffee shop. On the weekends, I volunteered in my church nursery and also babysat for both church families and friends. I moved to South Carolina last winter and have been here since then, and I love it here! I am delighted to be given this opportunity to grow and build new skills and relationships.

I worked with orphans with special needs aged from 8-23. I would translate and help them grow and build skills to connect with people on an emotional, spiritual, and physical level. I also helped teach them about household duties such as cleaning, cooking, shopping, managing money, how to interact with others socially, and teaching them English.
We would also go visit and, when able, host children from the orphanage, teaching them in our house and sharing the love of Christ with them.
