I have worked at the Tucson Jewish Community Center for the past year and a half. I started as a summer camp counselor and then once summer was over I worked at their afterschool program. I frequently handled large groups and was responsible for group management, leading activities like cooking or group games and teaching Jewish values. I went back this summer as an advocate for campers who have disabilities. I worked with one deaf camper and two campers that are on the autism spectrum. I learned basic ASL over the course of the summer, enough to communicate with a first grader! Now this fall I am currently the lead counselor in the second and third grade group at the afterschool program but will be moving on shortly in preparation of my move to Seattle. I also have experience as a nanny/longterm babysitter. I have developed close bonds with some of these families and still keep in touch with some of them.

I grew up in a family of foodies, home chefs and uncles who seemed to never be full enough. I started baking and cooking when I was very young, in fact some of my very first memories consist of me in my grandmothers kitchen whipping up some inedible concoction that I would inevitably force my family into eating. Luckily I started to learn what tasted good and I stopped having to force people to eat my food. Some of my favorite things to make would be focaccia and chicken pot pie.
I also grew up reading and still continue to harbor a love for it. These days I don't have as much free time to read for pleasure but I do it as often as I can. Even when it has been a long time since I sat down and properly read I still think of stories I have previously read, especially ones from childhood.
