Fairchild Challenge Summer Internship

Summer 2021

• Paid internship in the Burns Science Building and Hsiao Lab at Fairchild
• Worked alongside Dr. Carl Lewis to create the second generation of growth chambers. Included an automated light and water system. Automation was completed by programming a Raspberry Pi and by using the programming language Python.
• Tested which radish variety would be most nutritious for astronauts to eat and easily grow in the International Space Station
