Sophie Berger

I am a current student at UMBC working towards my bachelors in Biological Sciences. I am a passionate, hardworking, and reliable problem solver. My career objectives are to work with animals in rehabilitation or to do research in a laboratory. I am looking for a job to jumpstart my career in science and can provide proficiency in research, data analysis, and fieldwork. As well as skills in laboratory techniques. I am committed to advancing scientific knowledge and I possess strong critical thinking and communication skills.

• MCSE barn In 2018 and 2019 I participated in two separate volunteer internships with the Maryland Council for Special Equestrians. My duties were to feed and turn out the horses as well as clean their stalls. In 2018 I participated in an internship where I worked with a couple of clients in equine physical therapy.
• Stem conference I participated in the Maryland Annual Stem Conference of 2022 to present my work for the GEP in mapping fly genomes. I was given the species Drosophila biarmipes and a specific gene. The goal was to identify it the given species gene laid within the same location/area of the same gene in the model organism, Drosophila melanogaster. I had to follow a series of intricate and complicated steps and apply them to the given species. The steps were laid out in a format tailored to a different species of drosophila. My job was to take the general steps provided and conform them to my given species.
