I would be a good fit for this position because of my educational experience and certifications, as well as my hands on training through internships, volunteer work, and job at a children's ministry. I thrive in group settings such as multi-disciplinary teams, fundraising events, and collaborative meetings. Since I will be a recent college graduate I have prepared myself to learn and grow within this field and have found advocacy to be a very rewarding from my experience at Beyond Abuse. I am also comfortable with public speaking and welcome the opportunity for community education. During my time working with places like Beyond Abuse and Connie Maxwell Children's Ministries I have seen so many areas of need that have made my outlook on advocacy shift. While responding to sexual assault victims in the ER I saw a lack of advocacy and response from hospital staff, requiring me to step up and be a family’s primary role of advocacy due to lack of SANE nurses and education. Fulfilling these rolls made a big impact on my career choices, I originally wanted to go into counseling, but seeing the lack of community awareness on victims of abuse has shifted my interest to crisis intervention/prevention and community outreach. I initially sought out to find an organization in Greenville with a similar mission to Beyond Abuse, my research on resources in the area led me to the Julie Valentine Center. After talking with community members and doing extensive research on this Center I am very excited for the possibility of working with you and helping advance your mission.
