Chair Alarms | January 2025 - Present
- Participated and led an evidence-based project that implemented chair alarms on the orthopedic unit based on review of literature.
- Ensured all patient rooms had chair alarms and were used at all times when patients are out of bed and sitting in a chair.
- Provided education sessions to nursing staff and physical therapists on how to implement chair alarms.
- Outcome: In January 2025, five patient falls were recorded on the orthopedic unit. After the implementation of chair alarms, no more than one fall was recorded each month over the course of 6 months. The evidence-based project is currently in progress in house-wide implementation.
