CEncal Network for Sea Urchin Settlement (CENSUS)

Collaborated with another leading student to collect data from brushes that hang from ropes. Collects data from two sites around the Monterey Peninsula: a pier in Stillwater Cove and another pier in the Monterey Harbor. The brushes are sites for sea urchin recruitment. After being collected, the brushes are processed with sonicators to dislodge settled organisms.

• Manages and trains a group of 20 undergraduate students to sort collected field data.
• Organizes and analyzes data spreadsheets for public use.
• Operates and maintains lab equipment.

Oversaw skin diving activities for groups of up to 10 children, ages 8-16. Guided dives through diverse local ecosystems, fostering comfort and safety in water. Inspired curiosity about ecology and marine biology through engaging educational experiences. Managed a cabin of eight children, ensuring their well-being and responsiveness at all times.
