Director Radiobroadcaster with over 45 years of experience in management director of broadcasting and journalism, Anibal is seasoned media leader currently serving as the Director of DarioMedios Internacional which he founded in 2022. He holds a degree in Business Administration from the UCA and has spent three decades as the Director of Radio Darío Nicaragua, the country's third-oldest media outlet. In 2022, he founded DarioMedios Internacional, further expanding his influence in the media industry.
A prominent advocate for freedom of expression, Anibal Toruno serves as the Vice President of the Nicaraguan Radio Chamber (CANIRA) and is an international spokesperson for press freedom. He is also a member of the Special Commission for the Association of International Broadcasters (AIR) under the initiative “Nicaragua in Exile,” and co-founded the exiled organization “Voces en Libertad,” where he also serves on the Advisory Council.
Anibal has been an active member of the Union of Broadcasters of Central America (UNARCA). His commitment to journalism and press freedom has led to personal hardship, including surviving a devastating attack on Radio Darío in 2018, where the station’s facilities were destroyed by fire, nearly claiming the lives of 12 people. Subsequently, he became one of the 94 Nicaraguan citizens stripped of nationality, assets, and declared fugitives by the regime of Daniel Ortega.
