Experience with cardiac cath lab patients in both scheduled and emergent situations including those requiring IABP or impella, as well as patients requiring transvascular stenting or emergent transfer for cardiac surgery.

Worked on contract basis with Sentara to develop SHGH Outpatient Cardiac Recovery Area (OCRA). Vascular closure devices had been used at some of the larger teaching hospitals for a few years making outpatient procedures of invasive cardiology possible. Worked with cardiologists to develop and implement policies and procedures in relation to the recovery of the outpatient invasive cardiac patient. This included but was not limited to cardiac and anesthesia medication management of electrophysiology cardiac patients as well as patients from the cardiac catheterization lab. Collaborated in the design of the new cardiac catheterization lab at the new Sentara Careplex Hospital.

Recruited nurses and physicians primarily from the Philippines for difficult to staff inner city hospitals. Responsible for procuring contracts with hospitals, hiring of staff to include RNs and MDs to staff hospitals. Negotiated contracts for housing, arranged visas and necessary legal paperwork. Arranged for prep classes and exams for NCLEX exams as well as prep classes and exams for FMG’s(foreign medical graduates).

Charge nurse under Mayor Marion Barry. Responsible for policies, procedures, staffing, training, budget, CDC compliance, budget, disaster and emergency planning of medical facility caring for approximately 675 incarcerated youth and adults.
