Versatile and dedicated teacher with focus on individual needs of special education students. Empathetic and accommodating in design and implementation of hands-on lessons. Exceptional skills working with teachers, parents and specialists to meet educational needs of students.
I am a caseload manager for 30-35 students. I work with K-12 students in preparing IEPs for each individual student. I am in charge of scheduling all IEPs and inviting all members of the IEP team. I create goals for individual students based on formal and informal assessments. During Specialized Academic Instruction, I help students to fill learning gaps by providing innovative ways to teach subjects. I find methods based on the different learning modalities to inspire students to learn. I build relationships with students so that we can become a team to insure growth. Building relationships allows me to promote a positive self image. I fill out progress reports throughout the year. I am an excellent team player.
My responsibilities include teaching first grade students in a full inclusion class, which ranged from mild to moderate special education students to general ed. Gate students. I differentiate by modifying the curriculum for the many levels that exist in my class. I collaborate with the first grade teachers once a week as well as have Professional Learning Committees once a month. I serve on at least three committees throughout the year. I use Aeries to not only record grades but to communicate with parents. I use different benchmarks to assess my students in a summative manner at the end of a unit as well as use formative assessments daily. I assist in Music, Science, and Computer Lab as well as work in World Language twice a week. I used “Open Court” Phonics to teach English Language Arts. I assure the safety of my students as well as provide a positive environment in which instills a love for learning.
My responsibilities included creating lesson plans as well as using Aeries for submitting grades. I administered CELDT testing throughout the district. I worked in many different grade levels as a long term substitute, including RSP and SDC classes. I developed Science experiments and taught how to do them “hands-on” in the Science Lab. I communicated with parents daily to talk about their student's progress, behavior, and attendance. I attended multiple workshops and PLC's. Maintained day-to-day classroom management and discipline to promote learning initiatives.
