Local Permanency Supervisor and CVS Supervisor. Covered two units for 8 1/2 years then went to only covering LPS unit.
LPS unit covers all children placed in region 5 from any other region and SSCC in Texas. LPS ensures that all children placed in region 5 are seen monthly and documented. Cover all ICPC cases.
Supervisor Responsibilities:
• Cover the ISY mailbox and assign all cases.
• Reading and approving all ICPC home studies and overseeing all ICPC cases on a monthly basis.
•Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with all Community Holders.
• Supervise a unit of caseworkers responsible for providing monthly FTF visits with children in the home and documenting the visit timely as a secondary worker.
• Plans and manages unit operations by monitoring caseloads, consulting with staff on case related issues, approving leave, and holding individual conferences and unit meetings.
• Manage and develop staff through unit in-service training, field visits with staff, review of performance data, individual conferences, agency sponsored training, and performance appraisal.
• Interprets program policy and procedures to unit staff, • Evaluates unit performance through case readings, computer reports, and observation of unit operations to ensure compliance with policy, procedures, and service control requirements.
Additional responsibilities for CVS unit
• Develops and maintains effective working relationships between Child Protective Services staff, Child Welfare boards, the general public, legal, medical, educational, and other community resources.
• Makes casework decisions regarding the removal and placement of children, and works with county and district attorneys on legal measures to initiate on child protective services cases.
• Work well with a variety of levels of staff inside and outside the agency in order to secure appropriate placements, resources, and services to meet children’s needs.
• Articulate placement issues and specific needs for children.
• Clearly document the specific needs and the services required to meet the child’s needs.
• Promote, monitor, and ensure that respect is demonstrated for cultural diversity.
• Ensure that workers attends work regularly in accordance with agency leave policy.
• Demonstrate knowledgeable of CPS program policies and procedures, applicable laws and regulations.
• Be knowledgeable of resources and services available for children and ensure that workers are as well.
