CVS 2023 CEO Award Winner

The 2023 CEO Award presented by Karen Lynch, President and CEO, CVS Health. From the legacy PBM Care Management Operations organization, 7 nominations were submitted for consideration. In the nomination, each submission had to indicate ways the colleagues are Helping With Heart and identify the Heart at Work behaviors exemplified in their interactions. One of the main focuses of the award is to celebrate the winner’s extraordinary contributions to bring CVS Health’s purpose to life. We also had to provide specifics as to how the nominees delivered on the strategic imperatives including a description of deliverables and quantifiable results highlighting the impact that was made on our customers, our business and/or our colleagues. This included documenting why the outcome was extraordinary, unique, beyond expectations, inspiring, accomplished and/or created a positive customer or member experience. Metrics, including financial impacts were also provided, where applicable.

As an enterprise, there were over 1,000 nominees submitted for this extraordinary award. The corporate program team, a sub-committee of reviewers and Sr. HR Leadership decided finalist and ultimately Karen Lynch chose the winners. On Monday, April 1, 2024, Karen Lynch met with Stefanie Brown and her leaders to congratulate and notify her of this achievement and selection.

Stefanie has been in her role for almost 2 years as an HMN and “[s]he feels a strong conviction that reaching out to specific individuals at specific times aligns with her purpose in this organization.” In 2023, Stefanie received 29 Heart At Work recognitions. Her quick thinking and persuasion of a member to seek treatment paid off. The member Stefanie assisted was hesitant in seeking treatment because of a prior stigma of being a drug seeker, but she had a life-threatening pulmonary embolism, if left unaddressed, could have been fatal. The member acted because Stefanie cared. In another summary, Stefanie was an active advocate for a member with seizures that was potentially losing access to the Accordant program based on coverage. Through review and interaction with the member’s mother, based on consent, primary coverage was updated to allow program eligibility to continue. The member’s mother simple statement of “Thank you for helping me help my son,” is so impactful.

Stefanie's commitment to continuous learning and adapting to evolving healthcare knowledge and practices has not only enriched her own professional growth but has also significantly contributed to the quality of care provided to our members. Through her outstanding performance and compassionate care, Stefanie has become a valued asset to the Care Solutions Operations Topaz Team, embodying the essence of a dedicated and skilled nurse.
