  • Compensation:
    Assists the staff by processing and providing support with respect to specific, technical aspects of the compensation and leave programs when the action has case precedence and there are few or no issues involved. Compensation and leave actions in which the incumbent is responsible for processing may include but are not limited to the following: Basic pay and locality pay; Premium pay; Grade and pay retention; Recruitment, Relocation, and Retention pay incentives; Overtime calculations; Leave entitlement; Leave Restorations; Voluntary Leave Transfer Program (VLTP); Pay Differentials, e.g., Sunday, night, and holiday; Pay under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA); Back pay; Notice of Intent to Offset Salary; Garnishments and Waiver of overpayments.
  • Recruitment and Placement:
    Reviews SF-52 personnel staffing requests, e.g., reassignments, permanent promotions, details, temporary promotions or recruit/fill actions. Works with the manager or supervisor to ensure all required documentation is provided and either processes such action or coordinates with the supervisor for further assignment.
  • Contact Center:
    Provides routine human resources assistance directly to internal and external customers.
  • Applies information and guidance from federal regulations, manuals, information systems, and other resources, as well as information developed though developmental assignments experience and past practice, to resolve customer inquiries or determine which department can provide assistance needed for resolution.
  • Benefits and Worker Compensation:
    Provides employee counseling services covering the following programs: Employee benefits; Retirement; Workers’ compensation, Insurance (FEHB, FSA, FEDVIP, LTC, and FEGLI); Thrift Savings to include eligibility, withdrawal options and requirements, fund options, loan program rollover options, and integration of TSP into retirement planning; Military service deposits, non-deduction service or refunded service and the affect the deposit will have on eligibility and annuity amount.
  • Performance Management:
    Processes awards using automated computer applications. Assists in preparing and submitting awards payments to the National Finance Center via the Special Personnel Processing System (SPPS) for non-active employees including retires and separated employees. This payment process is required for recommended awards when the employee is no longer on agency roles.
  • Administrative Support:
    Responsible for data entry and successful processing of various paper copy documents using various applications to update NFC files. Applications used to affect updates and payments include EPIC, EmpowHR, and internal automated databases. Uses computer, word processing and/or other office automation equipment and various software programs to create, copy, edit, store, retrieve, and print a variety of documents; produces correspondence, memoranda, directives, forms reports; creates and maintains spreadsheets or databases; works from rough drafts, documents, written instructions or brief oral statements; transmits, receives and acknowledges electronic mail, messages, forms and reports; creates draft or final form into a variety of formats utilizing terminology common to the program and organization; ensures
    accuracy and timeliness of information, spelling, grammar construction, punctuation and presence of necessary enclosures.
