40 hours of volunteer work
We had an assembly line with someone putting the box on the line, then somebody putting three natural grocers bags into the box and one sheet of paper describing the contents. The next person was instructed to put one cereal box in each bag, the next 3 canned goods, the next, box pasta or 3 small ramen packages. I put in either 1 pasta sauce, jelly, peanut butter, or pasta in each of the three bags, the next person did canned fruits and the last person put the boxes on the pallet. We did that from 1 pm to 3 pm and ended up doing 300 family packs!
MWSU Social Work club hosts this annual event in downtown St. Joseph. Volunteers are welcome to help set up, tear down or assist during the event at 6th and Messanie street..
Today MWSU was able to follow through with the room that was previously cleaned out at YWCA Bliss Manor last month by adding a fresh coat of paint! Lots of love goes into supporting these survivors and we left a little Griffon ❤️ behind as well today!
I helped organize volunteer papers and made sure the paperwork was signed by the volunteers and that the volunteers also signed the sign-in and out sheet. On a different occasion, the YWCA has a retail store for women needing assistance can shop for themselves and their kids and I helped the leader of the organization sort donated clothes by size as well as hang and tag the clothing.
I volunteered for 5.5 hours by setting up and tearing down the stage where Santa sat. Christmas trees, big wooden ornament decorations, big candy canes on the poles, helping direct the parents to boys' and girls' toys, handing out stickers, and taking everything back to storage.
I helped Raegan by carrying three solid tables across the square from Cara Mia over to the children's craft area because the sugar cookies were arriving and there was no place to decorate cookies. We moved the tables down to make the extras fit and then the sugar cookie sponsors showed up as the parents and children came in I told them that the cookies were free to decorate, the crafts were in the back and they were 1 ticket.
I walked around with the group that was from UMKC on their tour around the Glore Psychiatric Museum grounds.
I walked families through the gift room to pick out 1 large present and 2 small presents per family member and each family member also got 5 stocking stuffers.
