§ Oversaw remediation of oil spill under the EPA START program along 40 miles of the Kalamazoo River and Talmadge Creek for the nearly 1-million-gallon oil spill initiated in Marshall, Michigan.

Risk Assessments

§ Led a field crew for biological, aquatic, sediment, and soil sampling for this 1200-square-mile ecological assessment of the Big River and its tributaries associated with former lead mining activities in southeast Missouri.

§ Conducted well water sampling for TNT/RDX in groundwater for over 140 people living around the former Meade Army Ammunition Base in Meade, Nebraska.

§ Reviewed and commented on CERCLIS Preliminary Assessment Reports for several military and former military bases and satellite areas.

Air Monitoring

Conducted field air monitoring during the removal of homes and debris burnt in forest fires in Northern California and New Mexico. Mainly monitored asbestos, lead, and silica concentrations in air.

Wetlands, Endangered and Invasive Species Surveys

§ Conducted field and GPS delineations for wetlands, water sources (rivers, streams, lakes, ponds), and threatened and endangered species surveys for thousands of miles of linear development use projects. Used sub-meter accurate Trimble GPS to conduct surveys.

§ Conducted field surveys for FERC Environmental Impact Statements (EIS) for proposed natural gas pipelines throughout the United States

§ Collected up-to-date field information on protected, threatened, and endangered species surveys for gopher tortoises, red-bellied salamanders, and red-cockaded woodpeckers in the southeast United States.

§ Assisted in removal, identification, and relocation of over 50 gopher tortoises prior to pipeline excavation in Florida.

§ Responsible for 700 miles of wetlands and threatened and endangered species. on the Rockies Express Pipeline from Colorado to Missouri for pre-construction and during construction of the natural gas pipeline

§ Utilized data map and collected up-to-date field information on protected, threatened, and endangered species surveys for swift foxes, sharp-tail grouse, Mountain Plovers, Indiana bats, and raptors that included burrowing owls, golden eagles, bald eagles, ferruginous hawks, Swanson’s hawks, harriers, rough-legged hawks, red-tailed hawks, and prairie falcons.

Oil Refinery

§ Conducted wetland and nuisance species surveys for over 700 acres for the LNG terminal, storage areas, and development of roads at the Pascagoula, Mississippi refinery.

Real Estate

§ Conducted wetland and stream delineations utilizing regulatory guidance of the Clean Water Act for Real Estate Developers throughout the central United States including Iowa, Illinois, Missouri, Kansas, and Oklahoma.

Aquatic Nuisance Species Surveys

§ Created the statistical design for surveys at 10% of the water bodies in California and Nevada for aquatic nuisance species, with a primary focus on Zebra Mussels (Dreissena spp.) for the US Fish and Wildlife Service.

§ Set up statistical sampling protocol, coordinating with federal, state, and municipal governments, and private landowners.

§ Managed up to 25 Field Technicians and supervised data collection activities in the field.

§ Oversaw budgeting, personnel logistics, and obtaining permits from public and private entities.

§ Operated JLB Lift to clean low-level radiation off warehouse rafters.

§ Conducted several Phase 1 environmental assessments.

§ Conducted over 800 hand geo-probe borings for PCB contaminants in unobtainable vehicle terrain.

§ Assisted with Permit herding of penguins for body measurements prior to the juvenile penguins heading into the Antarctic Ocean for the first time

§ Verified information on RCRA permits and contracts for projects to assess compliance with legal requirements. Interviewed science station personnel

§ An integral member in the implementation of the 1991 Madrid Protocol by working to remediate a former landfill at the Antarctic Palmer Science Station on Anvers Island along the Antarctic Peninsula.

§ Removed 180 tons of ash debris, 2 cargo trailers of metal debris, and potentially hazardous material,

§ The work was completed on a 45-degree rock ravine with ice and jagged metal. It was located on glacier edge, with high winds, and snow or rain every day

§ Oversaw projects for investigations and remediation of chemicals from numerous types of industries.

§ Conducted environmental compliance and regulatory oversight for soil and groundwater contamination at over 60 voluntary and enforcement projects and sites enrolled in the Illinois EPA Site Remediation Program

§ Reviewed and commented on Site Investigation Plans, Feasibility Studies, Health and Safety Plans, and Work Plans.

§ Liaised with Municipal and county. State, and Federal agencies to develop and maintain environmental-related programs, procedures, and compliance tasks.

§ Responsible for permitting, health and safety compliance, budgeting, and logistics of personnel.

§ Conducted CERCLA HRS scoring for former mining facilities and other industries.

Performed geological and groundwater studies mainly focusing on freshwater groundwater lenses at Enewetak Atoll in the Marshall Islands where 43 atomic and hydrogen bomb tests were conducted after World War II. Collected groundwater samples next to Runit Dome and several other islands including bedrock samples. Installed tide gauges.
