  • While working for AutoBase Inc. I am responsible for maintaining smooth traffic flow for all motorist that travel on some of the busiest highways in the Akron area. Some of the tasks that come with this job are fuel for vehicles out of fuel, tire changes for vehicles with a blown tire, engine overheats, and minor repairs to the vehicle if it is something in our realm of handling. I also am considered a First Responder on the highway and we do get dispatched to crashes on the roadway. If we are first on scene we will render the Aid needed until we are properly relieved by the EMT. If we are second on the scene, we will provide the Ohio Highway Patrol and EMT with traffic management where we will shut down and re-open lanes as needed in order to keep traffic flowing safely, all while we are taking care of the individuals involved in the crash.

Correctional Officer

United States Army
08.2016 - 12.2020
  • I spent most of my career working in a Correctional facility while in the 508th Military Police Battalion in the United States Army as a Correctional specialist. In which I was responsible for the custody, care and control of up to 40 prisoners assigned to one housing unit and around 100 prisoners in the whole facility. I was responsible for the safety and welfare of the prisoners assigned to me making sure they followed the rules and guidelines of the facility. Due to the nature of the corrections, I had to develop a high level of interpersonal communication skills to be able to talk people in a correctional setting. Additionally, I had to develop the ability to analyze tense situations quickly and make rapid decisions while keeping good order and discipline within a correctional facility. As a correctional officer, I would do daily searches of the housing unit and I was assigned to, according to the prisoner population, looking for prohibited property. If prohibited property was found I would seize it and insert the property into an evidence bag and deliver it to Military Police Investigators. Additionally, I would work in a dining facility keeping accountability of sensitive items and prisoners in the kitchen area. I would also conduct frisk and strip searches on prisoners assigned to work details that had access to sensitive items such as kitchen patrol detail. On top of searching prisoners I would also scan personnel entering the facility by using a metal detector and systematically and thoroughly going through an individual's baggage. I conducted other duties as well such as working as a roving escort where I would escort medium and maximum security prisoners, civilian contractors or even escorting prisoners outside the facility to appointments. I also performed duties as the control clerk where my primary duties were to control access and egress, of staff and prisoner traffic from one place to another by opening and closing all of the gates within the facility. Along with the duties of controlling traffic as a control clerk I was also in charge of controlling emergency keys, analyzing security footage, and medical response calls.
  • In addition to working with prisoners directly in a correctional facility I also worked as a blotter clerk. These additional duties have made me more adaptable within the administration side of corrections. As a blotter clerk I had access to Microsoft Excel, and a database where I was able to admit or decline personnel into the facility. I also was in charge of facility count procedures, report writing, transferring, and releasing prisoners as well as daily entries describing all of the facility’s daily prisoner activity.
  • The United States Army has taught me a numerous amount of skills. Skills that I will carry with me forever and instill in my colleagues. Being able to persevere through tough and strenuous situations with the ability to problem solve at the same time has been engraved in me since the day I became a soldier. Being able to do any task within a set time frame has enabled me to have great time management skills. I am able to hit deadlines needed and stay focused at the task given to me. My drive for quick and fast results along with my quick technical learning ability has really helped me accelerate in the administrative side of the military from my specific job to my every day soldier life.
