Life Saving
On 10/23/2023, I was the first officer on scene of a shooting. I located two victims who had been struck by gunfire. One victim had been shot in the left hand, I instructed a civilian to apply a tourniquet and maintain pressure on the wounded area. The second victim, had been shot three times. Once in the leg, and twice in the stomach. I immediately applied a tourniquet to her leg, and packed the wounds on her stomach while maintaining pressure. While on scene I relayed pertinent information to agency dispatch for responding officers and medical personnel.
EMS confirmed my actions significantly increased the life of the victim with three gunshot wounds to be saved.
