• Implements department goals and objectives, establishes work priorities, schedules and coordinates work to be accomplished per shift.
• Responsible for daily log, emergency calls and reports, overtime and injury reports
• Responds to alarms as an officer of a firefighting company; performs variety of firefighting functions, including Incident Command Officer.
• Responds as the officer of a medical team to bring basis medical care to citizens of the community and maintains quality control of EMS program, when assigned.
• Participates in daily training exercises and classroom lectures and prepares and conducts trainings for department, when assigned.
• Conducts fire inspections, supervises shift inspections, assigns work projects and approves completed work.
• Conducts demonstrations, tours and public speeches on fire safety, fire prevention, CPR, fire extinguishers, first aid and other subjects to the public.
• Responds to general public complaints, requests for information and guidance, cooperates with surrounding communities in firefighting and rescue efforts.
• Maintain discipline and insures that personnel follow department rules and regulations.
• Responsible for cleanliness of station and maintenance of apparatus, tools, equipment and all other Fire Department property.
• Accomplish such other duties as may be assigned from time to time.

• Administering basic first aid and medical support to patients, in accordance with federal, state, local and company policy and regulations
• Assessing the nature and extent of injuries/illnesses to prioritize medical procedures
• Effectively communicating with medical professionals and treatment facilities to obtain instructions regarding further action
• Effectively communicating with client and site personnel regarding any worksite incidents, hazards, etc

• Oversaw equipment and vehicle upkeep to maintain emergency readiness.
• Responded to emergency medical calls to perform lifesaving procedures and other emergency medical services.
• Initiated first aid measures to alleviate further injury and prepared victims for transport to medical facilities.
• Operated fire hoses, hydrants and extinguishers to eliminate fire and prevent from spreading.
• Evaluated situation at emergency sites to determine and execute most effective methods for saving life and property.

• Obtains medical histories and completes necessary paperwork on patients including vital signs. Any medical problems are referred to the Physician, and/or NP/PA.
• Assists with medical appointments, emergencies and sick call to include taking vital signs and documenting patient’s medical complaints.
• Ensures the medical provider’s orders are implemented.
• Coordinates health care needs of patients with other staff members.
• Coordinates referrals to off-site providers as required.
• Performs record keeping functions in accordance with clinic policies.

• Transporting personnel and equipment safely and efficiently to Emergency Scenes, as well as operating the Fire pump and Ariel Apparatus.

• Assisting the citizens of Mcallen with Fire, Vehicle accidents and Medical emergencies.
