Work History

3rd Assistant Golf Professional

The Club at Carlton Woods
10.2013 - Current
  • Hired in 2013 as an outside Golf Host
  • Did everything a cart guy entails. Getting to work on time, always clean shaven as required, set up the course, carts and practice areas ready for member play. Took and delivered drink and food orders, or handled any requests asked of me by members, guests, or my superiors.
  • Help run tournaments, assisted early on during my second year, with Junior Summer Golf Camps.
  • A month into hire, was asked to help out twice a week and assist our Merchandiser Lynn Baer. Was her assistant for almost three years while still an outside golf host the other days of the week.
  • In 2017 chose to pursue PGA Membership through Apprentice Program and make golf my career. After i was enrolled officially, and attended 1st seminar in Port St. Lucie in 2018, i completed the program in 25 months and was elected December 2020 with Full PGA Membership Status.
  • Passed the PAT at 37 years of age in 1st attempt, after not playing in a competitive golf tournament in 20 years (73-79)
  • Began teaching more in 2018. Started helping out 1st Assistant Professional Daniel Gonzales with Junior Clinics twice a weak, that were held on Monday and Tuesday from 4-5:30 eight months out of the year. Ages ranging from 5-10 yrs old.
  • We had a break from our school year schedule before the summer and I either assisted Daniel Gonzales, Donnie Massengale or conducted with another Pro, 4 different week long summer camps from June to July, ages ranging from 5-14 years old.
  • In 2021, was told by management to conduct the Monday-Tuesday clinics on my own getting help from another Assistant Pro that was my level. In 2023 we changed the schedule for that age group to only Mondays.
  • After completion of PGA program in 2020, was promoted to 3rd Assistant
  • Trained new hires how we run our golf operation and what was expected of them as a Golf Host/Cart Guy.
  • Started teaching more regularly, ages ranging from juniors to adults.
  • Began to email members about daily activities at the club and furthering and strengthening my relationship with members.
  • During my time as an apprentice while in the PGA program, I worked the Golf Shop twice a week. Learned to use POS system and work as a cashier, assisted with Merchandise, and used the daily tee sheet to make tee times for members and their guests.
  • Was included in monthly staff meetings run by the Director of Golf Emile Asous, that included all our Pros, merchandiser, and Golf Shop Administrator. In staff meetings, we went over the calendar and schedule, any specific jobs or departments we were in charge of, working collectively as a group, making improvements, and exceeding our expectations, and how we can make Carlton Woods elite and the best Private Club in the city.
  • Started the last five years doing much more club repair, regripping clubs, reshafting iron heads and wood tips, cutting and shortening shafts, using drills to get old epoxy out of shaft tips, using electric shaft cutter and sander belt
  • In 2021 I started helping getting members signed up with Mizuno Fitting and Demo Days at the club. In 2023, Management put me in charge of all our member sign ups for Mizuno's Spring Schedule at CW, and I assisted the rep and fitter Mike Lehfledt during the events. I would fill up the roster sometimes 9 or 10 fittings per day.
  • In 2024, Mike put me on Staff with Mizuno, for my success with the Demo Days, my dedication and devotion to the Mizuno Brand. I'm one of five Mizuno Staff Members in the entire S. Texas region controlled by Mr. Lehfeldt.
  • Tournament low score in a STPGA section event during my time at CW was 68 at Memorial Park in Houston in 2022. (low round of the day)
  • Have been running with another pro our Couples Events at the Club since 2020. Help set up the couples one day tournaments on Golf Genius software, made announcements on the microphone, went over tournament format rules, handed out awards.
  • Regularly play in STPGA Section events - I believe tournament golf is a huge proponent for improvement in one's game and overall confidence. I am a hard believer in practice of all facets of the game. Nothing makes an Instructor happier than seeing their students working on their craft.
  • I watch YouTube Golf Instructional videos regularly. Instructors i enjoy watching are Pete Cowen, Danny Maude, Butch Harmon, Hank Haney, Sean Foley, David Ledbetter, or any golfing junky teaching professional willing to get in front of a camera and express his beliefs and ideas. There is always something you can learn from someone who has a passion for the same things you do.
