I retired as a Battalion Chief with the Cobb County Fire Department, after enjoying a very rewarding 31 year career with the department. I was responsible for the personnel ( from 40-57 persons) and the equipment at one time for eight fire stations. was responsible for the staffing, training, equipment, completion of reports and other data reports. in my battalion. I also responded to any large scale incidents and then I was responsible for mitigating the incident.

• Performed preventative maintenance services of Cobb County trucks, apparatus, equipment and trailers.
• Inspect and perform repair on hydraulic and air brake systems.
• Inspect and perform repairs on equipment trailer wooden decks.
• Inspect and perform needed repairs on tires.
• Inspect and perform needed repairs on electrical systems.
• Assist senior mechanics in more complex repairs.
• Remove and install radiators in large trucks.
• Road test equipment.
• Drive equipment to other places as assigned by supervisors.
• Assist in cleaning the shop and maintaining tools.
• Enter all repairs and order parts in a timely manner.
• Inspect and place new trucks and equipment into service.
