  • Participated in root cause analyses on system failures, identifying areas for improvement in both design and maintenance procedures.
  • Contributed to the modernization of the training center's relay technician curriculum, designing and fabricating simulations of real-life system protection applications and providing experience and insight into what improvements and upgrades would best develop future generations of relay technicians.
  • Spent several months upgraded to the role of first line supervisor, including an extending period in the fall of 2024 overseeing several capital projects, including the replacement of aging relays and breakers at our Westwood Substation and integration of temporary 4 kV switchgear at Teaneck and Tonnelle Ave substations.
  • Routinely tasked with moderate to high-complexity job assignments such as work at customer substations and performing maintenance on rare or unique relaying schemes and the retirement and demolition of the A-1353 transmission line and associated relay equipment.
  • During time spent in the role of chief relay technician and upgraded supervisor, expanded my overall knowledge of the bulk electrical system, developed relationships with new contacts throughout the company and helped to expand the role of the relay department.

  • Performed a wide range of electrical diagnostic, acceptance, and investigative testing and analysis on all types of substation equipment, including: Transformers, CTs, PTs, circuit breakers, live-tank breakers, disconnects, capacitor banks, CCVTs, TRVs, and more.
  • Became proficient in the use of many pieces of test equipment, including Doble power factor test sets and impedance attachment, sweep-frequency response analyzer (SFRA), transformer turns ratio (TTR), Megger DC insulation testers, DC winding resistance, DC hipot, and all associated software.
  • Compiled all relevant test data, including equipment tracking such as serial numbers and calibration dates along with associated test results, to provide test reports to customers within the company.
  • Proficient in the use of a range of manlift equipment from 24' to 135' articulated machines.
  • Acquired a strong base of electrical and transformer theory, utilizing them to understand good test results from bad, and to develop troubleshooting strategies when results were not as expected.
