  • 1 Navy and Marine Corps achievement medal for PROFESSIONAL ACHIEVEMENT IN THE SUPERIOR PERFORMANCE OF HIS DUTIES WHILE SERVING AS TEAM LEADER, COMPANY CHARLIE, 8TH ENGINEER SUPPORT BATTALION ON 2 JUNE, 2022. ON THIS DAY, CORPORAL HANSEN DISPLAYED AN UNCOMMON BIAS FOR ACTION, CALM, AND QUICK THINKING UNDER PRESSURE WHEN HE SPOTTED A MARINE WHO HAD BECOME A HEAT CASUALTY DURING A PHYSICAL FITNESS TEST. UPON OBSERVING THE MARINE FALTER, HE IMMEDIATELY RUSHED TO HIS AID AND QUICKLY MOVED HIM TO A SHADED LOCATION WHERE HE IMMEDIATELY BEGAN ATTEMPTS TO REGULATE HIS TEMPERATURE. WHILE ADMINISTERING AID, CORPORAL HANSEN CAUGHT THE ATTENTION OF A PASSING CORPSMAN AND COORDINATED THE TRIAGE AND EMERGENCY CASUALTY EVACUATION OF THE MARINE WHEN INITIAL EFFORTS TO LOWER HIS CORE TEMPERATURE WERE UNSUCCESSFUL. DUE TO HIS DECISIVE ACTION AND SITUATIONAL AWARENESS, THE MARINE WAS SUCCESSFULLY TRANSFERRED TO A HIGHER ECHELON OF MEDICAL CARE ABOARD AN EMERGENCY AIRCRAFT. BY HIS INITIATIVE, PERSEVERANCE, AND LOYAL DEVOTION TO DUTY, CORPORAL HANSEN REFLECTED CREDIT UPON HIMSELF AND UPHELD THE HIGHEST TRADITIONS OF THE MARINE CORPS AND THE UNITED STATES NAVAL SERVICE.
