Summary

As someone who has dealt with long-term, severe and often crippling anxiety, depression and paranoia who is now on the recovery side of things, I believe that I am a good qualifier for the position of Peer Support. I have not personally experienced drug or alcohol addiction but am well acquainted with the effects of such maladies on individuals and those who care for them, having numerous first hand experiences. I am well-spoken and compassionate but fully capable of doing what must be done, even when it is uncomfortable. I am at my best under pressure, not that I am looking for stressful situations, but when they arise, I tend to handle them well. I know most, if not all the staff and cannot think of a better team that I would wish to be a contributing member of. I know I lack the education or skills of those I would be working with and am ready to learn all that I can to be the best fit and to provide whatever assistance and support I can offer. This includes a willingness to further my education. I am a good driver as well with only 1 ticket and 1 minor accident (black ice) that I was able to drive away from, both of which being more than a decade ago and I could probably teach a course on defensive driving. I was in a bad place for a long time and I got so used to it, I clung to it like a warm blanket. Your staff were there to help guide me out of that place and I would sincerely like to be able to help do that for others. Obtaining this position as peer support just makes sense to me and I hope you will consider me for this role.
