I've been and continue to be a working freelance musician in Los Angeles CA. My career started in Buffalo NY in the early 70's. From there I moved to NYC in 1978 to pursue a Freelance Career in the Music Business. I am a veteran of the Broadway and Off Broadway shows as a pit musician. I worked many hrs as a studio musician playing on Commercial, Music Publisher Demos, and Records. In 1990 I moved to Nashville where I began my writing career with songs cut by artists and I worked as a studio musician. From 2000 to Present day I've lived in Los Angeles working as a freelance guitarist and Teacher. I was the touring guitarist for WAR ( Low Rider, Why Can't we Be Friends) and since 2005 I've been on the Faculty of Musicians Institute as an instructor. I teach all styles including: Jazz, Blues, Rock, R&B and Funk Guitar. I have my Bachelors In Guitar from Berklee College of Music in Boston.

Job overview

As a song writer in Nashville from 1991 to 2000 I had songs recorded by artists. Most Notably my first cut was a song called " Thinking Problem" recorded by David Ball on Warner Bros records in 1993. The song rose to Number 1 on the charts and was my first cut as a writer. I had another song on that record called " Don't Think Twice" , I had songs cut by Johnny Addams and Bob Millard. I continued to be a studio musician in Nashville working as a guitarist / session contractor and Producer. I also functioned in the capacity of arranger for sessions and song writers. In 2005 after moving to LA and becoming a member of the faculty at Musician's Institute I taught Song Writing in the Independent Artist program. Covering all aspects of writing from Lyrics, to Music and Melody.

Accomplishments

From April 1978 to January 1990 I was a Freelance Musician in New York City. I am a veteran of Broadway and Off Broadway pit orchestras. I was a guitarist on numerous recording sessions for TV Commercials including : Clariol Hair Products, Harley Davidson, IBM, Heiniken Beer to name a few. In 1990 before leaving NY I became the voice for the Pizza Hut Delivery on radio and TV. In 1994 I had my first cut as a song writer in Nashville with the artist David Ball on Warner Bros records. The first single on the record " Thinking Problem " went to No 1 and it was my first cut as a song writer. Several other cuts with artists followed. Also, I continued my career as a studio musician in Nashville as a guitarist/contractor/arranger for numerous recording sessions for major music publishers and song writers. In 2000 I moved to Los Angeles to continue my career and from 2002 to 2023 I was the guitarist with the band WAR ( whose hits included Low RIder, Slipping Into Darkness, Why Can't We Be Friends) to name a few. My personal highlight was in 2008 performing at the Royal Albert Hall in London.Along with WAR I continued my song writing with cuts in Movies ( National Lampoons " Cattle Call )TV ( America''s Funniest Home Videos, The Lifetime Network) and Records( Theresa James Universal Records and Gary Hoey Surf Dog Records ( a subsidiary of Warner Bros) In 2005 I became a member of the Faculty of Musician's Institute in Hollywood. In 2021, I along with my musical partner Dan Stein were signed to Mundo Records (an independent Jazz Label) In 2023 we saw the release of our first record under the moniker " R FOR ROMEO" . The name of the record was PLAN R . It's a collection of songs with roots in Jazz, Blues, Funk and R&B. It's currently streaming on all the major platforms. In September of 2023 I was asked to compose music for a Documentary Film " The Ship That Turned Back " set to be released in 2024. I composed the opening theme and all the music and produced the music.
