I am a self-motivated 21 year old artist coming from Oakland California in progress of pursuing my career in music, modeling, art, design and modeling. Starting my journey off at the age of seventeen, I was living on my own and sustaining myself financially for the first time. Because of how little work experience I had at the time, as well as my prior job being in a restaurant, I quickly began working as a server. My goal now is to find a job that will be more of a healthy work place than my past jobs and overall more aligned with my personal goals. Though I gained a lot of experience in high volume work environments at all of the jobs I have worked so far, I feel I could excell much further in a more organized and goal orientated work place.
For this job I worked from home as a personal assistant for Kelly Turner. We would work together once a week from 9 - 5 or 6pm. During this time, we would have a weekly meeting on zoom at the start of the day, or I would simply receive an email outlining what tasks she would like for me to complete that day. I would complete various tasks including flyer and business card design, image sourcing, video editing, organizing spreadsheets/drives/folders and other research as needed. At the end of each work day I would send her an email with all links to completed tasks from the day as well as my total hours worked. I unfortunately was badly injured at the beginning of October and had discontinued working for about a month. I currently work on standby with Kelly.
I worked with My 2 Cents LA from June 2022 - June 2024. During my time here my responsibilities were all things front of house. This meaning everything from greeting, seating, and serving guests to making cornbread and drinks.
The business was small but very popular, so we were short staffed and very busy. This meant I would often be staffed alone in a "overwhelming" environment. Because of the customer service experience I had gained from my previous restaurant jobs I did very well here. Being in high demand with such high volume dining gave me the opportunity to hone my productivity and organization skills amongst what could feel like chaos at times. When the business was not busy to the point where I had to be on the floor, or if I was not staffed alone, I would then be responsible for printing event menus/catering orders, processing payments for said events and orders, as well as keeping inventory, store runs, organizing storage, communicating with kitchen staff as we 86 items on all ordering platforms/ POS, and working as the cashier.
I just left this job in June due to my living situation changing which ultimately resulted in me relocating from Los Angeles to Oakland.
Barney's was my first job when I moved to LA. Due to my age and lack of experience on paper at the time, I struggled to find a job before this one. After being trained for the first time, I felt far more confident in my skillset. And with some experience under my belt, I quickly felt I was one of the strongest on our staff. Management would staff me alone at times which definitely prepared me for the environment of my next job, but left me to confront a lot of disgruntled and upset customers. Learning how to navigate those type of situations I would say was another takeaway from this job.
Barney's was located in a more wealthy area which unfortunately meant some very difficult or down right discriminatory customers. I had many days being truly disrespected and unhappy there which is why I chose to leave the position.
This was my first ever job. I would be expected to run food, buss tables, and take orders. My time there was cut short due to the COVID 19 pandemic.
I am 1/3 of a musical ensemble called "JAX The Band." We are the ages 19-22 & we make all types of genres of music. Since our beginning in 2013, we have since performed at numerous festivals and conference/gatherings nationally and internationally. As well as dropping our debut album and directing, editing, and producing our own music videos. Today I am currently the guitarist and one of the lead singer/songwriters in the group. Being in this ensemble has instilled in me a great deal of patience for the work it takes to create and how to work with others in the name of succeeding at the goals we set.
