Dialysis Nurse Responsibilities:

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Administer patient medications.
• Assist in diagnostic procedures.

• Circulate and scrub during cardiac catheterization, electrophysiology procedures and structural procedures. Discharge teaching with patients and families including procedural, medications, activities, and dietary.
• Educate patients and their families before discharge regarding medication, lifestyle, and care of the surgical site.
• Ensure consent paperwork is accurately completed. Examination of the patient pre and post‑catheterization. Manage administrative aspects of cardiac catheterization, electrophysiology patients, and structural cases.
• Monitor and document patient vital signs.
• Monitor for signs and symptoms of infections or side effects of the procedure.
• Monitor patient sedation levels during and after the procedure. Prepare patients for procedures.
• Update patient charting and document the procedure.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Provide pre and post-care for a 24‑bed CCU patient undergoing Cardiac Catheterization and electrophysiological studies, pacemaker and AICD implantation, MI screenings, and anticoagulant therapy.
• Preparation of patient for CABG. Closely monitor patients to identify signs of arrhythmias and other life‑threatening complications.
• Administer medications and hang drips. Prepare and titrate inotropes accordingly.
• Initiated appropriate interventions during life-threatening arrhythmias, preserving patient stability and preventing further complications.
• Work collaboratively with Interventionist and Cardiologist to discuss patientʼs conditions and medical needs.
• Facilitate the recovery process through patient and family education.
• Collaborate with medical professionals to establish a plan of care for all patients at point of discharge.
• Perform Intravenous Cannulation, venepuncture, IV administration of medicine, urinary catheterization, and NGT insertion to the patient.
• Assist in intubation in elective and emergency situations. Perform CPR when the needs arise.
• Assist in extubation. Perform endotracheal suctioning and tracheostomy suctioning.
• Assist in IA line, CVP, PA, Temporary pacemaker, IABP insertion, and pleural tapping.
• Care of patient on BIPAP mask, and mechanical ventilator.
• Care of patient on IA line, IABP, PA, Temporary Pacemaker and Permanent Pacemaker/AICD. Perform 12 lead ECG to patient. Uphold strict healthcare, and hospital standards.
• Maintain sterile procedures to prevent cross contamination and spread of disease and infection during scrubbing and circulating.
• Increased patient satisfaction scores by consistently providing compassionate care and effective communication.
