The Library Director provides vision, direction, and management to create and maintain a dynamic campus library that serves the academic mission of the College. Roles and responsibilities of the position include building services and resources, integration of library services with the campus community, and collaborating with campus and external partners. As a member of the academic community, the Director is responsible for positioning the library and the Miller Information Commons in the academic context of the college; the Director also participates in the Academic Leadership Team and other planning groups, and works to establish local, regional, and national recognition for the library and the college.

• Works collaboratively across the Library and the wider College campus to design, implement, promote and assess meaningful and impactful library user experiences;
• Spearheads assessment of library areas under supervision;
• Serves as a resource and team leader in collecting, analyzing, interpreting and reporting constituencies' experiences for use in the continued improvement and success of Champlain College Library;
• Provides leadership and strategic management of the library’s reference team;
• Develops metrics for success and analysis of trends to evaluate reference services and impact;
• Supervises and provides direction to positions as assigned;
• Meets individually, assigns and supervises work, performs evaluations, fosters professional development, and ensures progress toward strategic library goals;
• Participates in reference, collection development, and other outreach services as well as teaching in the library's innovative inquiry-based information literacy instruction program as part of the library's award-winning Teaching Librarian team;
• Contributes to the library's strategic mission and goals;
• Works with the Library Director toward library strategic planning and goals;
• Prepares written reports, summaries, data analyses and similar materials relevant to areas supervised;
• Serves on the Library Management Team;
• Actively collaborates with campus and external partners. Identify, generate, and implement collaborative brainstorming and projects;
• At Director's request, oversees day to day library operations in Director's absence;
• Stays abreast of current and emerging trends in library and academic resources;
• Participates in management training and similar professional development activities;
• Represents the College and the Library in local, regional, and national professional activities.

• Directly supervised the Access Services Administrator, who in turn supervises the circulation staff;
• Worked collaboratively across the library and the wider College campus to coordinate and lead the delivery of the library's course-embedded and stand-alone information literacy instruction programs;
• Led the College’s teaching librarian team to provide instructional design, innovative tools and services, and teaching materials for a range of student-centered, online and in-person information literacy sessions;
• Provided leadership and strategic management of the library’s reference team;
• Developed metrics for success and analysis of trends to evaluate references services and impact;
• Played a leading role in student learning and outcomes assessment, utilized a wide range of direct and indirect data gathering, analytical and evaluative activities to report the efforts and value of the library's information literacy program;
• Developed, revised, and implemented policies, procedures, and best practices to support information delivery services;
• Overall responsibility for all aspects of key access services including main service desk and circulation areas;
• Participated in regular reference services, general outreach, as well as taught in the library's inquiry-based information literacy instruction program;
• Developed initiatives responding to emerging professional trends relating to information literacy instruction, assessment, instructional technologies, and best practices in pedagogy in higher education and facilitates engagement with this information among the librarian team;
• Collaborated with faculty partners on campus to design a library information literacy program that supported and integrated with a course curriculum.

• Managed the Circulation Department, including overseeing course reserve materials, audiovisual items;
• Hired, trained, led, and evaluated a team of 2 full-time and several part-time Circulation Coordinators and approximately 35 student workers;
• Reviewed and approved time cards of Circulation Coordinators and student employees;
• Collaboratively developed a Student Workers Coaching Program with Champlain College Library's Experience Design Librarian;
• Cooperatively implemented the Student Workers Coaching Program with the support of the Circulation Coordinator team;
• Developed and coordinated the systematic monitoring of the physical collection to provide exemplary patron access to print resources;
• Delivered inquiry-based information literacy sessions;
• Participated in designing information literacy lessons;
• Provided regular evening and daytime reference service;
• Assisted with updating and maintaining the library's LibGuide subject guides;
• Monitored the maintenance of the Miller Information Commons facility and coordinate communications to ensure its upkeep;
• Contributed collection development suggestions;
• Submitted library resources for course proposals and curriculum review;
• Collaborated on creating dynamic and engaging library displays;
• Participated in the Student Employment Initiative, a campus-wide, collaborative effort to enhance the student employment experience at Champlain College.
