  • Responsible for strategic planning, administration, and financial management of a $750 million benefits program for over 21,000 benefits eligible faculty and staff, and over 3000 retirees. The programs in this portfolio include Health Plans (medical dental and vision), Retirement Savings (403b), Pension Plans, Retiree Medical Plans, Wellness Programs and Leave Administration
  • Responsible for transformation of the health benefits plans and the introduction of wellness programs with incentive rewards. Over the past 10 years, the overall trend has been 1-2 % lower than the market trend, resulting in an estimated cost avoidance of $250 million
  • Enhanced the short-term disability plan and introduced a Paid Parental Leave plan
  • Actively involved in the University HR and Payroll transition to Workday, including insourcing the benefits enrollment system from a third-party vendor to Workday
  • Led the team to upgrade the TIAA platform and transition the Retirement Savings plans to single recordkeeper and reduce the investment line up and enhanced the employer contribution by 1%
  • Post Pandemic – developed a national benefits strategy to develop programs that comply with a variety of state and local regulations
  • Enhanced the vendor management strategy to eliminate low performing vendors or negotiate additional concessions from existing vendors, requiring vendors to be accountable with quarterly reporting.

  • Fully responsible for making recommendations to Sr
  • Management and the Board of Trustees regarding more than $300 million in compensation programs and $80 million in benefits
  • Developed benefits strategy for labor contract negotiations which resulted in withdrawal from Taft Hartley pension plan, replacing it with a hybrid pension plan, with no labor stoppage
  • Redesigned pension plan and obtained board approval for the conversion from traditional defined benefit pension plan to a cash balance plan, resulting in greater understanding of the value of the pension plan
  • Transformed the 403B plan from a passively managed plan with 5 vendors to a single vendor solution and introduced an employer match feature, resulting in a significant increase in participation
  • Transformed the performance management system from a task-based system to a behavioral competency focused system and facilitated the cultural transformation work needed for implementation of the new system
  • Re-designed HR systems and processes through the implementation of an integrated Lawson HRIS/ Payroll system
  • Conversion included the rollout of employee and manager self-service functionality for pay and benefits eliminating paper pay transactions and increasing accuracy

  • Integrated benefits programs including the selection of new vendors and carriers for two companies following merger in 1995
  • This project was accomplished in less than 90 days, with no employee disruption, while providing a full menu of quality benefit programs.
