Accomplishments


  • Collaborated with a team of six in the development of Weathering the Storm training curriculum.
  • Over the last thirty-six years, I have developed and maintained effective working relationships with local and state governments, including police departments, 911 centers, and individual sheriffs' offices.
  • Since 2016, I have spent considerable time volunteering with the NC Law Enforcement Assistance Program (NCLEAP). NCLEAP is a non-profit that, through peer support, offers peer-driven assistance to first responders dealing with critical incident stress, trauma, and other life challenges. I have been a part of many NCLEAP Teams that have traveled from Murphy to Manteo to conduct critical incident stress debriefings for line-of-duty deaths (LODD), officer-involved shootings, child sexual assaults, child deaths, responder suicides, riots, and other trauma-inducing events.
  • Since 2016, I have had the privilege of serving as a peer for NCLEAP during the Post Critical Incident Stress Seminars (PCIS) and leading small group sessions for law enforcement, telecommunicators, and detention officers dealing with various types of trauma and loss.
  • I have worked closely with the North Carolina Responder Assistance Initiative (NCRAI) to provide referrals and serve to build a bridge between first responders and culturally confident clinicians.
  • Within my agency, I have developed a Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) course, which is a requirement of the NC Justice Academy's Leadership Certificate Program. I have traveled to many agencies and community colleges to provide this training upon request.
