PRN RN in the surgery department.

I have worked in many different areas at this ASC. I began my career as the RN in the endoscopy suite. I transported patients, assisted physician with endoscopy procedures, and transcribed procedure reports and discharge instructions. I also work in the pre-op and PACU areas which involves preparing patients for procedures by assessing, starting IVs and administration of necessary medications. In the PACU area, I am responsible for assessing patients and preparing them for discharge. In 2020, I began training and was promoted to the DON position, however, I stepped down from that position in 2022. I went part-time after having my first child.

• Utilized critical thinking skills to prioritize nursing interventions based on patients'' acuity levels and individual needs.
• Conducted thorough patient assessments to identify changes in condition, promptly notifying physicians and initiating appropriate interventions when necessary.
• Administered medications safely according to established guidelines while closely monitoring for side effects or adverse reactions requiring intervention.
• Enhanced patient satisfaction by providing compassionate, holistic nursing care that addressed physical, emotional, and spiritual needs.

• Served as RN in the Mother/Baby department
• Assessment of postpartal and newborn patients
• Plans and implements care of the new mother and her new infant
• Assesses knowledge of childcare and assists with any teaching that needs to take place prior to discharge home

• Served as RN on the Skilled Nursing Unit
• Assessing patients daily, medication administration, planning and coordinating care for the long term patient

• Served as RN on the Medical-Surgical/Telemetry unit
• Proficient in assessment skills, communicating with patients, and making sure patients are receiving the highest level of care possible
• Familiar with paperwork, charting, and organizing patient charts

• Skills obtained: IV access, medication administration, wound care, Foley care, and assessment skills.

• Worked on the Medical-Surgical/Telemetry unit which holds 27 patients
• Performed clerical duties such as answering phone calls, filing paperwork, organizing patient charts, answering the call light and helping patients with their needs
• Also cleans/organizes nurses’ station, assigns new patients to proper rooms, enters M.D. orders in Pulse computer system.
• Acquired great communication skills with doctors, nurses, patients, and patients’ family members
• Key Accomplishment: Selected as a recipient of a work-study scholarship based on academic performance in nursing courses
