  • Provide vision, leadership and oversight for achieving the department's mission, strategic plan and daily operations.
  • Interpret and implement policies, procedures and standards in compliance with university and system-wide regulations and adhere to and maintain standards issued by state and national accrediting agencies.
  • Develop, administer and promote programs and clinics in service of adults and persons with communication disabilities.
  • Hire, supervisor, and evaluate department employees including 30 faculty, 2 staff members and 12 student employees.
  • Oversee a $5.5M budget. Ensure compliance with laws and regulations governing the spending of state dollars.
  • Work collaboratively with constituents across the system, state and nation on various committees and initiatives around access and education.
  • Champion admissions requirements which removed barriers for historically marginalized students and increased the diversity of the workforce serving adults and those with disabilities to 3x the national average.
  • Secured a $1.25M federal training grant which provided specialized training and tuition remission for graduate students interested in working with community members with low incidence disabilities.
  • Published and presented over 75 professional talks and posters in the areas of acquired communication and swallowing disorders, scholarship of teaching and learning and increased educational access for historically underrepresented students.
