Work History

Purchasing/Property Management Officer

SD Dept of the Militarry
Rapid City, SD
01.2022 - Current
  • Coordinate purchases of property items needed to conduct the maintenance, update, and furnishing of new and current facilities for the Dept. of the Military in South Dakota. This would include, but is not limited to, the use of state and federal funding to make said purchases.
  • Inventory all items purchased with state funds in order to meet the requirements of the federal cooperative agreement with the Dept. of Defense. This has been in the upwards of 100+ personnel from Dept of the Military (SD State Employees) and Department of Defense (Federal Employees)
  • Transfer or surplus equipment and supplies when they are no longer needed in a particular area, so items would stay within the Dept., while others may have gone to other state agencies, county or city municipalities, schools or non-profit organizations.
  • Create, update to keep a database with all items that are required to be accounted for through the cooperative agreement. This database was outdated and was not a functional system. I have created and maintained a new system which is making field visits more productive and less extensive. Items can be added and claimed as surplus is just a few steps.
  • Assist with Budget Reconciliation when needed during year end or absences of staff.

Purchasing/Property Management Officer

SD - Game Fish and Parks -Custer State Park
Custer, SD
07.2007 - 01.2022
  • Coordinated the purchase of materials, supplies, and equipment for SDGFP, Custer State Park, and the Black Hills Region of Parks and Recreation. Verified that funding was available for such purchases, either through the budget, capital development funding, or through the Parks and Wildlife Foundation from donations.
  • Maintained accurate records of property purchased, and verified such property on inventory sheets. Surplus or transfer equipment and supplies when they are no longer a useful resource for the region. Followed the guidelines and requirements set forth by the State of South Dakota for purchases, either from the South Dakota contract, or NASPO, and Sourcewell contracts. Place inventory tags on purchased or acquired property.
  • Obtained quotes from vendors when making purchases over the individual purchase limit. Purchases include office supplies, janitorial supplies for nine campgrounds, three visitor centers, ground maintenance equipment, sewer maintenance equipment, and UTVs, as well as heavy equipment.
  • Purchased items for outdoor education programs.
  • Purchased computer hardware and software used in daily business, and to handle many different wildlife research programs in Custer State Park.
  • Worked with Program Managers to ensure that the items needed to complete projects are available and on hand or can be obtained easily if they are not above the normal purchasing threshold.
  • Traveled to local areas to purchase items from local vendors, such as automobile and equipment parts, and building and grounds supplies.
  • Prepared monthly fleet and travel billing for work orders of vehicles serviced and repaired at the Custer State Park shop. Billing includes the use of unleaded and diesel fuel.
  • The Accounting Assistant, added in June 2015, counted and recorded revenue for Custer State Park, and corrected sales and revenue in the Point of Sale (POS) program.
  • Prepared invoices for payment through SD's MSAS system, scan, and mail the original paperwork to Pierre for payment, and kept accurate records of payments on the computer for future reference.
  • Managed and processed payment for all state-issued credit cards belonging to Custer State Park, and verified that sales tax was not charged on any purchase.
