It was a few years ago, but in high school, I was working in our school's spirit wear shop. I had lots of responsibilities since it was only two people running the store. We used Squarespace to run our website, fulfill orders, and keep up with inventory. For our items, we would make skew-numbers to categorize them. The skew-numbers along with the item price and name are put on the tags. We also used Square to track how much of our inventory went out and what we got in when we restocked. For each shipment we got to restock items, I had to count out how many we had and add it to what we already had. I was also responsible for keeping our website up to date. When doing inventory, I input the amount of whatever item. If we didn't have an item, or the item is now out of stock, I would change it to say that the item was out of stock or discontinued. I used Canva to create a lot of the promotional ads, and emails sent to customers. For holidays I would create a theme for the website depending on what month we're in. I took pictures of each item, edited and uploaded them to the website. Sometimes we would have sales going on when there was a football game, a school event, or the holidays. I created Instagram posts, emails, and ads on the website. Because it was just two people I was tasked with many different jobs, and I feel those skills were a jumpstart to a career in UX design and Digital Marketing. I have also taken the Digital Marketing course and I am very excited to say I have completed The Google Digital Marketing course and have a certification in Digital Marketing/E-commerce. Because I don't have an area of expertise, or one aspect of digital marketing I've mastered, I would love the opportunity to try everything(SEO Research, Email Marketing, Product Marketing Manager, etc.)until I find where I'm comfortable. I am very adjustable, so even if I play two roles, I'm good. I feel that though my credentials don't match the standard of a "perfect candidate" in a corrupt job setting, I have a certification that sets me apart from others in this field. I also think that a job isn't just about work all the time, there are times we socialize and have to talk, we have to work with others or around them. I think personality and key characteristic help me stick out more, on top of my certifications and prior experience in high school.
